-use 8×10 image receptor

-place shield across patient’s lap

-seat patient at end of table with elbow flexed 90 degrees

-pronate hand with fingers extended

-central ray should be directed to proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint

-collimate on four sides to only show affected finger
